Name:Sam Yeager-Allen

Location: United States, Alabama

I run to: feel alive and to be the best version of myself that I can be.

AM or PM runner: Morning all the way!

I run solo, with partner, pet or club: Typically I run with friends or with my husband.

I run on trails, in my park, by the sea or in the city: I run by the bay!

When running I wear: Brooks running shoes.

Favourite tunes whilst running / training: I rarely run with music (only on the treadmill), but if I do, it’s late ‘90s to early 2000s pop!

Favourite distance and why: I like a good 10 mile run. I feel like I have accomplished something, but haven’t worn myself out. Also, I really like numbers that end in 5 and 0.

Favourite race event and why: I enjoy racing half marathons. You can run fast, but not 5K fast and it’s long, but not marathon long. It’s a great distance to race!

Favourite food: Sweet potatoes

Guilty pleasures: Candy corn and brand new running socks

Favourite race fuel: UCAN

Running hero or athlete: Kathrine Switzer

Favourite running or motivational quote: I love Steve Prefontaine’s famous quote “to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift,” because it is a wonderful reminder to live in such a way that you are being the best version of yourself on any given day. It applies not only to running, but also to pretty much any other area of your life as well.

Favourite running book, guide or magazine: Once a Runner by John L. Parker, Jr.

Tip for newbie runners: Consistency is key.

My running goals are: My current goal is to run a sub-3 hour marathon.

Why I wear my run angel: I was attacked on a training run when I was in college. I was raped repeatedly, but ultimately released. My family didn’t know what had happened to me or that anything was wrong for several hours. I truly believe that run angel would’ve been a game changer in my situation.
